7 ❀ Assignments

1. Internal Affairs Perhaps the most mundane of assignments but someone has to help keep this citadel running, right? There are hoses to be fed, fields to be weeded, and don't forget the other odd duties here and there. With this many spirits inone citadel, someone has to help make sure everyone has dinner and the laundry is done! Hopefully you have a good partner helping you today but as some might know, sometimes the bigger question isn't who they are but where they are... Someone has to do the dirty work! So where are you?! 2. Expeditions Not everything is about fighting. Sometimes there are assignments to gather intel or help clean up after another squad. There are small things that can be done to make sure history follows its course and some fo those things include feeding the hungry after a disaster or just making sure the right people meet after their paths were thrown off. Expeditions are perfect for the new addition that needs to be eased into missions before being sent to the frontline. 3. Frontlines - Before Whether you're ready or not, it's time to go out to the frontlines. There's a big mission everyone needs to do and history is wildly off course. A squad is gathered up and sent to a difficult time and a battle is inevitable. Is this moment painful for you? Well, such is the nature of a touken danshi, right? Don't get too close to "That Person" and don't get any funny ideas. ... Also, where's [insert name of problematic sword boy that was assigned on this mission for some god unknown reason]? Or maybe it's been 20 years and you're still on this mission! Sometimes missions last longer than a few days or weeks. They can drag on for months and those months sometimes become years. How have you been keeping your cover and making a living in this era? Remember, don't stand out or cause too much trouble. Are you homesick? When was the last time you saw the saniwa or your friends back home? Will this mission ever end?! 4. Frontlines - Battle Finally, it's time to fight! Everything you've done has prepared you for this moment and it's time to resolve it once and for all. Did you gather enough information to prepare for all of these enemies? You didn't get any funny ideas that might put you on the wrong side of this assignment, did you? Regardless of what happens, it would appears that [That Person You Keep Losing] has finally decided to show up when you needed them the most so at least you don't have to worry about that anymore. 5. Frontlines - After The battle is finally over and it's time to go back home. Was the mission a success or a total failure? Maybe you're coming back home with a +1 in your party. Regardless, it's time to get yourself checked out now. You've worked hard and it's time to get those repairs in. Hopefully they aren't too severe! But those with heavier injuries can expect to be down for a few days. Don't worry, there will certainly be plenty of bedside visits. 6. Wildcard This is basically an open post to deal with swords doing miscellaneous assignments whether it's mundane chores or mission based assignments. Feel free to come up with your own prompts for things like "babysitting the problematic sword boy," "have you seen Mikazuki Munechika?," and anything else you can think of. |
Tonbokiri
When you're on a mission, often everyone sleeps together in the same room. Even with someone out scouting overnight, it's a lot of people in one room. (Konnosuke, why don't they get enough money for at least two or three rooms...?)
Perhaps it's an effect of the HRA being in the area, but recently Tonbokiri has been having bad dreams -- nightmares -- about his teammates. Even though he knows they are just dreams, it still gives him a bad feeling and makes it harder to pull himself together to focus on the mission.
Besides, it's probably only him having these feelings. He needn't worry the others over it...
Don't mind the dark circles growing under his eyes.
[Of course it's more fun if it's not just him having nightmares!]
-o-
Frontlines - Battle
The battle has been vicious, and the enemy shows no sign of relenting. It's as if they have limitless resources to pour into making sure the Touken Danshi cannot get into the burning house to rescue their target.
Tonbokiri has been engaged in this battle with an Ootachi for several minutes now-- several minutes too long. He has no fear of being defeated like he once was, but this Ootachi... did the enemy find a way to make them stronger?
The presences of other enemies and his comrades are in constant motion around him, so he doesn't immediately register that there is one presence coming at him from behind, stealthily aiming for a killing blow--
[Save him, or come just too late and see him be critically wounded (again), either is ok!]
-o-
Frontlines - After
When the mission is successfully completed, it calls for some relaxation and refreshment! There's always someone who will call for a drink, and Tonbokiri doesn't mind going along with that.
[Tonbokiri usually stops drinking after three cups. Tonight, are you trying to convince him to drink up even more? (He'll get dozy and you'll have to lug his huge body back to his room.) Or perhaps you're the one getting too deep into the cups, and Tonbokiri will have to see you back to your bed and tucked in soundly.]

i. Expeditions
“I think it likes you.”
The daimyo’s prized hound barks in reply. You know…that prized hound, the one that you’re supposed to be returning to the daimyo to ensure that the proper course of history remains intact? Its tail is wagging enthusiastically as it stares up at you with huge, soulful eyes that are just begging for you to take it home.
Uguisumaru bends down to give it a good scratching behind the ears, before lifting his gaze up at you with a chuckle.
“What’s with that look? Did you want to keep it after all?”
ii. Frontlines – Before
It is the year 2016, which is practically ancient history. And you’re both working undercover in an attempt to sniff out the whereabouts of the Historical Revisionist Army. They’re planning something, and Master wanted to ensure that no one interfere with certain historical proceedings here.
Well, something historic is probably happening somewhere. Certainly not iin Japan, however. And certainly not where you are now. But the music is awfully nice, and Uguisumaru is peering up at you with a happy flush to his cheeks after having taken more than a few sips of this fruity coconut-laced cocktail with a little umbrella in it. Fortunately, his sword does not clash at all with the brightly colored leis hanging around his neck, nor that garish touristy shirt he’s currently wearing in an attempt to blend in among the humans.
Of course, they’d gotten more than a few odd looks, but a sword spirit cannot be without a sword. And Uguisumaru, for his part, is looking around him with interest.
“I think,” he says at last, “that I would like to try dancing.”
iii. Frontlines – After
“I thought it was really amazing. I never heard you scream like that before.” Uguisumaru punctuates that with a sip of tea. But not to worry, not a drop of it will ever spill upon your grossly injured head as you use his lap for a pillow. The queue for the repair room is long, but fortunately Uguisumaru is there to console you until your turn comes.
Just don’t expect him to bother getting up to fetch you anything, though.

“It feels like going into battle undressed,” Sengo remarks with his trademark chuckle as he drops to his hands and knees right in front of you.
Just your luck that the little troop-kuns have decided to go on strike while you’re out on a mission. And you still have to watch out for the Historical Revisionists, of course, not to mention correct whatever anomaly is plaguing this era.
But despite how blithe he is being about all this, Sengo is honestly worried about the little guys as he surveys the foliage for any signs of the slippery little bastards. Where could they all be hiding?
“But keep your ears open. The light cavalry can move pretty fast, but we should be able to hear their little hoofbeats.”
ii. Just five more minutes…!
One this fine day, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the sliding door to your room snaps open without preamble and oh dear gods is the sun in your eyes or is that Sengo looming over you with a huge and ominous grin over his face.
“Wake up, sleepyhead! Huhuhuhu, it’s time for you to undress…!”

Mikazuki Munechika
[Being assigned any type of chores with Mikazuki Munechika is an adventure.
The first adventure is locating him of cours,e because at any given time he is liable to simply... not be where he is supposed to. And once located, the second adventure is getting him to actually do the task and not end up doing it yourself while he watches you and sips his tea.
Will you take up the challenge?]
3. Frontlines - Before
'Mikazuki-sama is gone!'
[really, by now, anyone who goes on a mission with Mikazuki should know you need to put a bell and/or leash on him, because he is likely to slip away at any given time for no discernible reason. Add to that his extremely visible costume, and his apparent inability to introduce himself as anything but 'Mikazuki Munechika', and this is likely to end up in a blown cover sooner rather than later.
And yet... isn't it strange how the missions he is a part of often end up finishing quickly and with rather minimal casualties? What exactly could he be doing out there that somehow ends up taking some burden off your shoulders?]

Shokudaikiri Mitsutada
Internal affairs: Part 1
[ Luckily you're working with Mitsutada today on chores. Because whether you actually want to work, or you'd rather sit and watch (Looking at you,Mikazuki!!!), he happily takes on more of the work load. That's just how he was. As of right now, he had a huge basket of laundry in his arms, walking off to go wash them. ]
It's such a nice day out, won't you come with? At the very least you can soak in the warm rays.
Frontlines - After
[The mission had been an absolute success! Every single foe that posed a threat to the flow of history was cut down and there was little to no extra damage around the place they set up for their battle. The only thing that went wrong was Mitsutada's need to protect his comrades. His team could have taken the direct hit easily enough together, but he took it upon himself to push his team out of the way to take the brunt of the attack causing him to be severally damaged.
While cooperating in the repair rooms, no one seemed to take in consideration just how boring it was lying up in bed the whole time because Mitsutada kept trying to sneak out with his broken arm in a sling and bandaged body to go try and help with chores ]
Internal affairs: Part 2
[ SURPRISE!
Something went wrong during the process of repairs after that last mission. Not to worry, Mitsutada wasn't broken or chipped or anything like that, but some of the residents of the citadel miiiiight notice a slight difference between the Mitsutada of before and the Mitsutada of now.
Especially when they come across a rather short child-like sword with messy black hair and an eye patch covering his right eye. ]

Izuminokami Kanesada
Internal Affairs.
[ Have you ever had to do chores with a sword who was essentially a teenager in sword years? Because one thing you will learn is depending on the sword, without someone keeping them in check, their chores will become rather chaotic and unruly. Izuminokami was no exception to this.
It was his turn for laundry duty which was rather evident by the trail of random pieces of clothing that just seemed to lead toward the way Izuminokami was walking. It was almost like he was making a trail to be found but he honestly had no idea he had dropped so many.
Though the load was a bit lighter. ]
Frontlines - Before!
[ What a strange place to be sent on a mission.... Izuminokami and the rest of his team were sent to the year 20XX to a place known as a convention center. It was a rather odd place to be sent with even stranger appearances all around the crowds, but their master had made sure to let them all know to be wary. While they weren't sure an attack would absolutely happen here, it was better to keep their eyes peeled.
Some of them decided to split up to really take in how big this convention center was while others kept to pairs.
There were men and women dressed in odd outfits, strange like bikini armor, anything one could imagine and somehow in their battle gear, the team seemed like they weren't out of place at all.
Greeted with excited looks from the humans of "wow your costume looks great!" "Who are you supposed to be?" "that must have cost a lot of money!" it was hard to really walk around in these crowds. ]
What kind of historical meetings take place in this place I wonder...

Ichigo is one of those swords who doesn’t mind doing fieldwork. It’s extremely important to ensure there are ample food stores in case of emergencies after all! He been out here for hours now, diligently harvesting the crops on his own as his chore partner never showed up. The weather is cooler now, but still he’s been out in the sun all this time and now he’s starting to feel a little faint. He should probably go back inside for a little rest.
He begins to get up, but his world immediately begins to spin... Help him please?
2. Expeditions
It’s the early 2000s. You and Ichigo are now undercover and trailing after your target down a dark alleyway. Your target is suspected of aiding the Historical Revisionist Army and, oops, they seem to have noticed that they’re being followed...! They are now coming back towards you! What do you do now?
5. Frontlines - After
Ichigo came back from the frontlines in really bad shape and had to be carried back. Now he lies in repairs, still unconscious. Suddenly, his sleep turns restless as a fever grips him. He also begins whispering in a panic about flames....
6. Wildcard
Thanks to a smithing glitch, there are now two Ichigo! But this one is much smaller and mentally still very much a child. In fact, he is still just a child spirit and barely able to carry his own sword. He also rather confused and scared, and just wants to go home... Why is he even here? He can’t even fight!
Now he sits on the engawa, trying not to cry....
((Also open to other scenarios! Prose and action are both fine! And you also have the choice of the girl version of Ichigo for options 1, 2 & 5 if you want~ :3))

Yes... ah, unless you’d rather I didn’t...
[And now she can’t help wondering if she’s offended him in some way by offering to help!]
Ah! [She quickly bows in apology.] I didn’t mean to offend you, Izuminokami-sama! I’m sure you’re perfectly capable of doing the laundry, just that... just that it seems unfair that you have to do this all on your own... so I...
