7 ❀ Assignments

1. Internal Affairs Perhaps the most mundane of assignments but someone has to help keep this citadel running, right? There are hoses to be fed, fields to be weeded, and don't forget the other odd duties here and there. With this many spirits inone citadel, someone has to help make sure everyone has dinner and the laundry is done! Hopefully you have a good partner helping you today but as some might know, sometimes the bigger question isn't who they are but where they are... Someone has to do the dirty work! So where are you?! 2. Expeditions Not everything is about fighting. Sometimes there are assignments to gather intel or help clean up after another squad. There are small things that can be done to make sure history follows its course and some fo those things include feeding the hungry after a disaster or just making sure the right people meet after their paths were thrown off. Expeditions are perfect for the new addition that needs to be eased into missions before being sent to the frontline. 3. Frontlines - Before Whether you're ready or not, it's time to go out to the frontlines. There's a big mission everyone needs to do and history is wildly off course. A squad is gathered up and sent to a difficult time and a battle is inevitable. Is this moment painful for you? Well, such is the nature of a touken danshi, right? Don't get too close to "That Person" and don't get any funny ideas. ... Also, where's [insert name of problematic sword boy that was assigned on this mission for some god unknown reason]? Or maybe it's been 20 years and you're still on this mission! Sometimes missions last longer than a few days or weeks. They can drag on for months and those months sometimes become years. How have you been keeping your cover and making a living in this era? Remember, don't stand out or cause too much trouble. Are you homesick? When was the last time you saw the saniwa or your friends back home? Will this mission ever end?! 4. Frontlines - Battle Finally, it's time to fight! Everything you've done has prepared you for this moment and it's time to resolve it once and for all. Did you gather enough information to prepare for all of these enemies? You didn't get any funny ideas that might put you on the wrong side of this assignment, did you? Regardless of what happens, it would appears that [That Person You Keep Losing] has finally decided to show up when you needed them the most so at least you don't have to worry about that anymore. 5. Frontlines - After The battle is finally over and it's time to go back home. Was the mission a success or a total failure? Maybe you're coming back home with a +1 in your party. Regardless, it's time to get yourself checked out now. You've worked hard and it's time to get those repairs in. Hopefully they aren't too severe! But those with heavier injuries can expect to be down for a few days. Don't worry, there will certainly be plenty of bedside visits. 6. Wildcard This is basically an open post to deal with swords doing miscellaneous assignments whether it's mundane chores or mission based assignments. Feel free to come up with your own prompts for things like "babysitting the problematic sword boy," "have you seen Mikazuki Munechika?," and anything else you can think of. |

"But wouldn't it help my recovery process to get some fresh air...?"
It was his last excuse and it was a flimsy one. He knew it wouldn't work...

"I see... I may be able to do something about it. However." He looks at Shokudaikiri with intense gravity. "It will require a great amount of trust from us both. And, a promise that you will remain here until I return. It is my duty to see that you rest completely. If you leave this place before I return, my duty will have failed by your betrayal."
Yes, he is taking this very seriously.
"Can you agree to this?"
no subject
"I promise... I will stay here in bed until you return."

"You are a sword of honour," Tonbokiri smiles and rests a hand lightly on Shokudaikiri's shoulder-- lightly because he is injured, after all.
"It will take some time, but please trust me. I will certainly return, and I hope you find it worth the wait."
And without further delay he turns and walks down the hall with a quick, purposeful pace.
---
As foretold, it is a long time until Tonbokiri returns, but when he does he is clearly satisfied and proud of whatever he's been doing.
"Thank you for waiting."

"You're back..!"

He leads the way through the halls in the easily-recognizable direction of the veranda overlooking the garden. Once there, Shokudaikiri will see the product of Tonbokiri's hard work: several cushions and blankets set up so that Shokudaikiri can recline comfortably on the veranda in the fresh air. There is even a tray set with a teapot and dango.
"This was the best I could do to provide you with a comfortable place to rest in the fresh air."

He was absolutely stunned. He couldn't believe Tonbokiri went to such lengths, just so Shokudaikiri could stop sneaking out and finally just relax. He was... so touched. Absolutely touched...
no subject
"Yes. Please pardon my taking such liberty, but I hope this will help you recover."
He'll help Shokudaikiri settle down on the cushions and hold out a blanket, offering for him to use if he wishes. He grins, "If you end up so comfortable that you want to take a nap, I'll take it as a compliment. And, I also hope you don't mind this, but I'll be continuing to keep you company." He's still 'on duty', but it feels a bit more like they're just hanging out like this.

"Thank you... so much. I don't feel like I deserve such care, but I am honestly so grateful to all of this... It's incredibly touching, Tonbo-chan..."
no subject
"The pleasure is mine. I'm simply glad you're pleased with it."
Seeing Shokudaikiri all settled, he approaches the final piece of 'business'.
"So, how would you like to rest? I can offer you a cup of tea, or perhaps you'd like to read? Of if you'd like to simply look out over the garden, I shall just sit quietly over here." He has a book of his own for such an occasion.

He even uses the nickname again to put empathizes on his feelings. He really did enjoy their conversations, even if it was about something simple like the weather...
"Ah... but that also doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy yourself either."
no subject
"Speaking with you is entirely enjoyable," he reassures him. Kneeling by the tea set, he pours two cups. "The weather has gotten a little cooler, but it's still quite nice out, isn't it," he starts conversationally, handing Shokudaikiri-dono his tea. "Working in the fields at this time of year is the most comfortable and satisfying, as the harvest comes in."

"Everyone has their own strengths. Although, I do sometimes wish there was a certain level of 'willingness to contribute' that everyone was at. Some miss out on that enjoyable satisfaction in a job well-done."

In fact, Mitsutada here could already think of two right off the bat. Though it'd be a little rude to just call them out so he keeps their names to himself with a bit of a chuckle of his own.

"Just so! I cannot understand how they can go though such lengths, when it'd be easier in the end to just do the work..." Sighing as he thinks of Muramasa he concedes, "I suppose they have personalities where they think of such evasions as sport, or a game."

He gestures vaguely. If Shokudaikiri can get what he means.
