7 ❀ Assignments

1. Internal Affairs Perhaps the most mundane of assignments but someone has to help keep this citadel running, right? There are hoses to be fed, fields to be weeded, and don't forget the other odd duties here and there. With this many spirits inone citadel, someone has to help make sure everyone has dinner and the laundry is done! Hopefully you have a good partner helping you today but as some might know, sometimes the bigger question isn't who they are but where they are... Someone has to do the dirty work! So where are you?! 2. Expeditions Not everything is about fighting. Sometimes there are assignments to gather intel or help clean up after another squad. There are small things that can be done to make sure history follows its course and some fo those things include feeding the hungry after a disaster or just making sure the right people meet after their paths were thrown off. Expeditions are perfect for the new addition that needs to be eased into missions before being sent to the frontline. 3. Frontlines - Before Whether you're ready or not, it's time to go out to the frontlines. There's a big mission everyone needs to do and history is wildly off course. A squad is gathered up and sent to a difficult time and a battle is inevitable. Is this moment painful for you? Well, such is the nature of a touken danshi, right? Don't get too close to "That Person" and don't get any funny ideas. ... Also, where's [insert name of problematic sword boy that was assigned on this mission for some god unknown reason]? Or maybe it's been 20 years and you're still on this mission! Sometimes missions last longer than a few days or weeks. They can drag on for months and those months sometimes become years. How have you been keeping your cover and making a living in this era? Remember, don't stand out or cause too much trouble. Are you homesick? When was the last time you saw the saniwa or your friends back home? Will this mission ever end?! 4. Frontlines - Battle Finally, it's time to fight! Everything you've done has prepared you for this moment and it's time to resolve it once and for all. Did you gather enough information to prepare for all of these enemies? You didn't get any funny ideas that might put you on the wrong side of this assignment, did you? Regardless of what happens, it would appears that [That Person You Keep Losing] has finally decided to show up when you needed them the most so at least you don't have to worry about that anymore. 5. Frontlines - After The battle is finally over and it's time to go back home. Was the mission a success or a total failure? Maybe you're coming back home with a +1 in your party. Regardless, it's time to get yourself checked out now. You've worked hard and it's time to get those repairs in. Hopefully they aren't too severe! But those with heavier injuries can expect to be down for a few days. Don't worry, there will certainly be plenty of bedside visits. 6. Wildcard This is basically an open post to deal with swords doing miscellaneous assignments whether it's mundane chores or mission based assignments. Feel free to come up with your own prompts for things like "babysitting the problematic sword boy," "have you seen Mikazuki Munechika?," and anything else you can think of. |

But at least he was helping? )
Tch.
( He stops to shake off some dirt from his hands and looks up just as Ichigo rises. Is it time to wrap up? Please.
But he notices that Ichigo starts to sway and quickly, he gets up on his feet and moves to catch Ichigo. )
Woah! ( He keeps Ichigo steady, ) Slow down, Ichi.
( He's got you!!! )

... don’t feel so well...
no subject
( Nothing good comes from fieldwork ever!!! And he shifts, holding onto Ichigo gently but awkwardly stepping from behind him to his side, )
Come on, lean on me. Let's get you somewhere you can rest.

[Trust him on this. He remembers his late master using starvation tactics on his enemies and it was horrific... but he’s feeling too weak to really argue, so he does as Tsurumaru says. He slumps feebly against him, still feeling so dizzy.]
... thirsty...
no subject
Drink.

( Well, he'll sit down next to Ichigo, smoothing out the front of his hakama and patting his lap. )
Come, rest here. You'll get leaves in your hair.
( Not that that's a problem but look... this is better, trust him. )

Lying on Tsuru’s lap is, of course, a much more attractive option than lying on the grass, so he pulls himself over and buries his face in Tsuru’s lap.]

( He's teasing but also scolding lightly. He doesn't really mind. This is a nice break and much better than digging at potatoes. With Ichigo's head on his lap, he'll just brush his hair gently with his fingers, )
I'm afraid my hands are a little dirty.
( Sorry. But after a while, he'll start to hum a song. )

[From the terrible starvation and possible cannibalism that he remembers witnessing... Not one of his favourite memories of his master.
And this really is very nice... he loves those soothing fingers lightly touching his scalp and soon closes his eyes.]
It’s okay. .... need a bath anyway... you should take one with me...
[While the soft humming slowly pulls him to sleep.]

We're safe here, Ichigo Hitofuri.
( Though, he can understand being on guard. Tsurumaru himself is always ready for the next surprise whether it's good or bad. But right now, it's safe at the citadel and they don't have to worry. But he can tell that Ichigo is starting to doze off so he keeps brushing his his hair and resumes his song.
Every now and then, he'll reach for a gold ginkgo leaf and start to tuck it into Ichigo's hair. When he's finished with Ichigo, there will surely be a crown of golden leaves for when he wakes up.
... Did you really think he'd let Ichigo off easily? )

He’s soon breathing slowly and deeply, fast asleep on Tsuru’s lap. He naps for a long while before opening his eyes again, feeling a lot better. He shifts his position a bit to look up rather drowsily at Tsuru, not yet noticing his new crown.]
... what time is it ...?
no subject
... if he's allowed to. )
Ah!
( Ichigo starts to awaken and Tsurumaru sits up straight, smiling down on him, ) Good morning.
( Well, it isn't really morning. )
The sun is setting. ( So only a couple of hours since the days are getting shorter and shorter. ) It's not too late to see it.
( And he points out ahead, at the sun setting behind the mountains that border their citadel. It's halfway behind the mountain now and a beautiful, bright red. )
no subject
Oh! That’s absolutely gorgeous!
[He sits up and then moves to lean against Tsurumaru to watch the sunset.]
I’m so glad that I woke up in time to see this with you.

It makes everything seem more red. The maple leaves that cover the mountains and spot the gardens around the citadel seem a deeper and more vivid shade of red and Tsurumaru loves it. Red is, after all, one of his favorite colors.
Everything feels so picturesque he almost finds himself becoming caught in it completely and forgetting himself. His hand curls into the grass and leaves as for the briefest moment, he considers taking Ichigo's hand... ah, no, he isn't sure. He's never been very good with these feelings. )
I'm glad too. ( He's so bad at these moments. ) I was worried I'd have to carry you all the way back if you didn't wake up. I don't think my back could handle it.

He smiles happily and settles back against him, resting his head lightly again his shoulder. Ichigo’s smile falters slightly though when he hears what Tsurumaru says... Way to spoil the mood, stupid crane...]
Well, you don’t have to worry about that now...
[He sits up and notices... golden leaves falling into his lap. He looks up. Were they from the tree? He reaches up to run a hand through his hair and all he gets is a handful of leaves! What- How- Tsurumaru!]
Tsurumaru! What did you do to my hair?
no subject
When Ichigo starts to shake out his crown though, Tsurumaru laughs and turns to face him, reaching to stop him from brushing out all of the leaves,)
Ah, you're ruining your crown! (Stop that, stop that. Look, he's trying to fix it right now.) It suits you.
(A golden crown for a prince.)

Mitsutada, on the other hand, would have gladly carried him anywhere without wanting any repayment of any sort!He frowns in mild annoyance and tries to pull his hand away from Tsurumaru’s grasp, but without putting up too much of a fight. He sort of appreciates the crown, but he’s still very unhappy that Tsuru has messed with his always perfectly coiffed hair.]
... I am not going back with leaves stuck in my hair.
