7 ❀ Assignments

1. Internal Affairs Perhaps the most mundane of assignments but someone has to help keep this citadel running, right? There are hoses to be fed, fields to be weeded, and don't forget the other odd duties here and there. With this many spirits inone citadel, someone has to help make sure everyone has dinner and the laundry is done! Hopefully you have a good partner helping you today but as some might know, sometimes the bigger question isn't who they are but where they are... Someone has to do the dirty work! So where are you?!

2. Expeditions Not everything is about fighting. Sometimes there are assignments to gather intel or help clean up after another squad. There are small things that can be done to make sure history follows its course and some fo those things include feeding the hungry after a disaster or just making sure the right people meet after their paths were thrown off. Expeditions are perfect for the new addition that needs to be eased into missions before being sent to the frontline.

3. Frontlines - Before Whether you're ready or not, it's time to go out to the frontlines. There's a big mission everyone needs to do and history is wildly off course. A squad is gathered up and sent to a difficult time and a battle is inevitable. Is this moment painful for you? Well, such is the nature of a touken danshi, right? Don't get too close to "That Person" and don't get any funny ideas. ... Also, where's [insert name of problematic sword boy that was assigned on this mission for some god unknown reason]? Or maybe it's been 20 years and you're still on this mission! Sometimes missions last longer than a few days or weeks. They can drag on for months and those months sometimes become years. How have you been keeping your cover and making a living in this era? Remember, don't stand out or cause too much trouble. Are you homesick? When was the last time you saw the saniwa or your friends back home? Will this mission ever end?!

4. Frontlines - Battle Finally, it's time to fight! Everything you've done has prepared you for this moment and it's time to resolve it once and for all. Did you gather enough information to prepare for all of these enemies? You didn't get any funny ideas that might put you on the wrong side of this assignment, did you? Regardless of what happens, it would appears that [That Person You Keep Losing] has finally decided to show up when you needed them the most so at least you don't have to worry about that anymore.

5. Frontlines - After The battle is finally over and it's time to go back home. Was the mission a success or a total failure? Maybe you're coming back home with a +1 in your party. Regardless, it's time to get yourself checked out now. You've worked hard and it's time to get those repairs in. Hopefully they aren't too severe! But those with heavier injuries can expect to be down for a few days. Don't worry, there will certainly be plenty of bedside visits.

6. Wildcard This is basically an open post to deal with swords doing miscellaneous assignments whether it's mundane chores or mission based assignments. Feel free to come up with your own prompts for things like "babysitting the problematic sword boy," "have you seen Mikazuki Munechika?," and anything else you can think of.

Are you sure you don’t need me to help carry some of that...?

[It doesn’t feel right to have you carry everything.]

I'll be just fine, Ichigo~!

[ One could easily tell he was in a rather good mood right now. He had a bit of a singy tune in the tone of his voice. ]

Carrying is the easy part. Washing is the difficult part.

[It is really nice to see his friend in such a good mood. It is rather infectious too and Ichigo finds himself smiling at Mitsutada's sing-song voice.]

Still, it looks rather heavy... but if you're sure.

I can promise you I can handle this.

[ he chuckles a bit. It was rather kind of Ichigo to worry about him like that, but he always found it hard to put more work on other people. Even if he was his partner for this chore... oops.]

But if you're worried, we can trade off. When we're bringing the laundry back you can carry it.

[That sounds fair.]

Alright. [A pause.] You sound particularly happy today. Did something good happen?

Well, I was paired with a dear friend for chores today. It's hard not to be pretty happy.

[Oh! Cue his cheeks turning slightly pink,]

Mitsutada....

[Stop making his heart flutter! You’re not supposed to! He tries to laugh it off and tease him a little.]

It certainly doesn’t take much to make you happy~!

I'm but a simple man, that much is true.

[ he laughs softly, leading the both of them to the little stream they use to wash the clothes. He already had the cleaning supplies down by the stream and had just gone to grab the clothes and other things to be washed. ]

[Ichigo laughs as well then follows him, feeling very content.

Once they reach the stream, he'll help divide the laundry so that they both have a somewhat equal workload.]

You know, with how nice it is out, I'm surprised I haven't seen any younger ones running out to play by the stream. They must all be busy.

Most of them are out on expeditions or missions, and I don’t let them play in the stream unsupervised.

You really are protective over them. I find that pretty charming...

[ He usually let Sada-chan do whatever he wanted to do, but he was pretty sure he wouldn't let himself get into too much trouble at least. ]

Charming...? But that’s just what any parent would do, isn’t it?

[It’s just dangerous to let young children play in a stream unsupervised. You don’t need a lot of water to drown...]

I suppose that's true. I can't really speak from personal experience but... I think anyone would want the best outcome for those they love and cherish.

Well, you are kind of like the parent among your friends, aren’t you? You’re always seem to be watching over and looking after them.

[He smiles as he recalls seeing how Mitsutada interacts with the rest of the Dategumi. Then he turns back to the washing at hand.]

[ He snorts softly at that. Ichigo wasn't wrong, that's for sure. Even when they didn't need him to, Mitsutada often found himself trying to dote on them and look after them like he was a mother hen of sorts. ]

I suppose you caught me there.

[ He starts placing the clothes he's washed and rung out into the basket before grabbing for another. ]

[~~Suddenly imagining them as two housewives doing the laundry together by the stream! Anyway!~~

Ichigo does the same, working at a similar pace. They are so in sync~!]

Therefore, you are very charming too, Mitsutada.

[ ~~All they're missing is the cute bandannas on their head to keep their hair back.~~

He hums a soft sound as he turned his head to smile at Ichigo. ]

Now now, how is that fair.

[He smiles back with a slight tilt of his head.]

Mn? How is it not fair? You are very charming and that’s a fact.

Because how am I supposed to win this "argument" if you go and compliment me like that. It's just not fair, Ichigo.

But this isn’t an argument, Mitsutada. I’m simply stating facts. You don’t get complimented enough.

[Now stop being so stubborn or he’ll have to splash you with water!]

But surely the compliments are more deserving for you.

Mitsutada. You are just as deserving if not more!

[And since you’re still being so stubborn... you’re getting splashed!]

Hey..!

[ He laughs, choosing to splash him right back. ]

I happen to think you are far more deserving.

[He laughs as well as he tries to gather more water in his hands to throw at Mitsutada.]

Stop arguing about this already, Mitsutada! If I say you’re deserving, you’re deserving!
