7 ❀ Assignments

1. Internal Affairs Perhaps the most mundane of assignments but someone has to help keep this citadel running, right? There are hoses to be fed, fields to be weeded, and don't forget the other odd duties here and there. With this many spirits inone citadel, someone has to help make sure everyone has dinner and the laundry is done! Hopefully you have a good partner helping you today but as some might know, sometimes the bigger question isn't who they are but where they are... Someone has to do the dirty work! So where are you?! 2. Expeditions Not everything is about fighting. Sometimes there are assignments to gather intel or help clean up after another squad. There are small things that can be done to make sure history follows its course and some fo those things include feeding the hungry after a disaster or just making sure the right people meet after their paths were thrown off. Expeditions are perfect for the new addition that needs to be eased into missions before being sent to the frontline. 3. Frontlines - Before Whether you're ready or not, it's time to go out to the frontlines. There's a big mission everyone needs to do and history is wildly off course. A squad is gathered up and sent to a difficult time and a battle is inevitable. Is this moment painful for you? Well, such is the nature of a touken danshi, right? Don't get too close to "That Person" and don't get any funny ideas. ... Also, where's [insert name of problematic sword boy that was assigned on this mission for some god unknown reason]? Or maybe it's been 20 years and you're still on this mission! Sometimes missions last longer than a few days or weeks. They can drag on for months and those months sometimes become years. How have you been keeping your cover and making a living in this era? Remember, don't stand out or cause too much trouble. Are you homesick? When was the last time you saw the saniwa or your friends back home? Will this mission ever end?! 4. Frontlines - Battle Finally, it's time to fight! Everything you've done has prepared you for this moment and it's time to resolve it once and for all. Did you gather enough information to prepare for all of these enemies? You didn't get any funny ideas that might put you on the wrong side of this assignment, did you? Regardless of what happens, it would appears that [That Person You Keep Losing] has finally decided to show up when you needed them the most so at least you don't have to worry about that anymore. 5. Frontlines - After The battle is finally over and it's time to go back home. Was the mission a success or a total failure? Maybe you're coming back home with a +1 in your party. Regardless, it's time to get yourself checked out now. You've worked hard and it's time to get those repairs in. Hopefully they aren't too severe! But those with heavier injuries can expect to be down for a few days. Don't worry, there will certainly be plenty of bedside visits. 6. Wildcard This is basically an open post to deal with swords doing miscellaneous assignments whether it's mundane chores or mission based assignments. Feel free to come up with your own prompts for things like "babysitting the problematic sword boy," "have you seen Mikazuki Munechika?," and anything else you can think of.

He hums a soft sound as he turned his head to smile at Ichigo. ]

Now now, how is that fair.

[He smiles back with a slight tilt of his head.]

Mn? How is it not fair? You are very charming and that’s a fact.

Because how am I supposed to win this "argument" if you go and compliment me like that. It's just not fair, Ichigo.

But this isn’t an argument, Mitsutada. I’m simply stating facts. You don’t get complimented enough.

[Now stop being so stubborn or he’ll have to splash you with water!]

But surely the compliments are more deserving for you.

Mitsutada. You are just as deserving if not more!

[ He laughs, choosing to splash him right back. ]

I happen to think you are far more deserving.

[He laughs as well as he tries to gather more water in his hands to throw at Mitsutada.]

Stop arguing about this already, Mitsutada! If I say you’re deserving, you’re deserving!

[ Honestly the way they were acting reminded him of being children. It was a bit refreshing in a way. ]

Hey! Stop copying me!

[He laughs and splashes the other sword some more, before be suddenly pauses. This... all feels slightly familiar somehow. Him as a child playing in a stream with...]

... I... just had the strangest sense of deja vu...

So it wasn't just me feeling that way then?

[He blinks at that, confused and surprised.]

... what do you mean by that, Mitsutada?

It reminded me of a time when I was much smaller, that's all...

When you were much smaller...?

[Well, they are about the same age, aren’t they? Could he have known Mitsutada when he was little? Is that what Mitsutada is hinting at...? It’s possible, isn’t it?]

Mitsutada... we... did we know each other when we were much smaller...?

Ah... yes.

[ He gives a softer smile in his direction. ]

We spent a lot of time together when we were smaller.

[Ichigo is speechless for a long while as he just looks at Mitsutada in surprise, but it is a good sort of surprise. He feels a sudden rush of nostalgic warmth in his heart even though he still can’t remember what the other sword is saying...]

We did...? So we... we were childhood friends...?

We were, yes... Perhaps that's why we feel so close and connected right now. Even if you might not remember, maybe a part of you still does.

[ He paused a little. ]

Or you just like who I grew up to be.

[ He laughs a little, moving to wash some more laundry.]

I...

[And now he feels a little guilty.]

I...

[He moves over to hug him from behind, hiding his face against Mitsutada’s back.]

I’m sorry for not remembering, Mitsutada... I do feel very close and connected to you and... I really like you just as you are now...

[ His hands move to rest over the top of Ichigo's, letting his fingers thread with his a little. There was a warm smile on his face from the hug, but he did feel a little guilty. ]

Perhaps I should have told you sooner. I just didn't want you to feel bad. You aren't at fault for your memories, Ichigo... And it's been fun being able to make friends with you again.

[Ichigo gladly threads their fingers together completely as he hugs him tighter.]

Mitsutada.... [Well, he can understand his rationale and what he’s saying is true but...] ... it’s been fun too and I guess I know now why... I’m so fond of you and why you are so important to me.

[ He smiles and leans a little more into this hug. It felt so nice to be held like that, though he was a little disappointed he couldn't see Ichigo's face right now to tease him a little. ]

'Mitsunii Mitsunii' You used to call me that when you wanted to play.

[Ichigo pulls away a bit at that, his cheeks pink with embarrassment, and he moves so that he can glance up at Mitsutada.]

I-I did...?

It was nice. I didn't have many around my age to play with, so I was happy to be your Nii-san.

[He studies Mitsutada for a moment, before hiding against him and whispering...]

May I... call you ‘Mitsu-nii’ again... like back then?
