7 ❀ Assignments

1. Internal Affairs Perhaps the most mundane of assignments but someone has to help keep this citadel running, right? There are hoses to be fed, fields to be weeded, and don't forget the other odd duties here and there. With this many spirits inone citadel, someone has to help make sure everyone has dinner and the laundry is done! Hopefully you have a good partner helping you today but as some might know, sometimes the bigger question isn't who they are but where they are... Someone has to do the dirty work! So where are you?! 2. Expeditions Not everything is about fighting. Sometimes there are assignments to gather intel or help clean up after another squad. There are small things that can be done to make sure history follows its course and some fo those things include feeding the hungry after a disaster or just making sure the right people meet after their paths were thrown off. Expeditions are perfect for the new addition that needs to be eased into missions before being sent to the frontline. 3. Frontlines - Before Whether you're ready or not, it's time to go out to the frontlines. There's a big mission everyone needs to do and history is wildly off course. A squad is gathered up and sent to a difficult time and a battle is inevitable. Is this moment painful for you? Well, such is the nature of a touken danshi, right? Don't get too close to "That Person" and don't get any funny ideas. ... Also, where's [insert name of problematic sword boy that was assigned on this mission for some god unknown reason]? Or maybe it's been 20 years and you're still on this mission! Sometimes missions last longer than a few days or weeks. They can drag on for months and those months sometimes become years. How have you been keeping your cover and making a living in this era? Remember, don't stand out or cause too much trouble. Are you homesick? When was the last time you saw the saniwa or your friends back home? Will this mission ever end?! 4. Frontlines - Battle Finally, it's time to fight! Everything you've done has prepared you for this moment and it's time to resolve it once and for all. Did you gather enough information to prepare for all of these enemies? You didn't get any funny ideas that might put you on the wrong side of this assignment, did you? Regardless of what happens, it would appears that [That Person You Keep Losing] has finally decided to show up when you needed them the most so at least you don't have to worry about that anymore. 5. Frontlines - After The battle is finally over and it's time to go back home. Was the mission a success or a total failure? Maybe you're coming back home with a +1 in your party. Regardless, it's time to get yourself checked out now. You've worked hard and it's time to get those repairs in. Hopefully they aren't too severe! But those with heavier injuries can expect to be down for a few days. Don't worry, there will certainly be plenty of bedside visits. 6. Wildcard This is basically an open post to deal with swords doing miscellaneous assignments whether it's mundane chores or mission based assignments. Feel free to come up with your own prompts for things like "babysitting the problematic sword boy," "have you seen Mikazuki Munechika?," and anything else you can think of. |

i. Frontlines – Before
“It feels like going into battle undressed,” Sengo remarks with his trademark chuckle as he drops to his hands and knees right in front of you.
Just your luck that the little troop-kuns have decided to go on strike while you’re out on a mission. And you still have to watch out for the Historical Revisionists, of course, not to mention correct whatever anomaly is plaguing this era.
But despite how blithe he is being about all this, Sengo is honestly worried about the little guys as he surveys the foliage for any signs of the slippery little bastards. Where could they all be hiding?
“But keep your ears open. The light cavalry can move pretty fast, but we should be able to hear their little hoofbeats.”
ii. Just five more minutes…!
One this fine day, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the sliding door to your room snaps open without preamble and oh dear gods is the sun in your eyes or is that Sengo looming over you with a huge and ominous grin over his face.
“Wake up, sleepyhead! Huhuhuhu, it’s time for you to undress…!”
iii. Wild…card
ii. but I couldn't resist alluding to i
For once, he could agree with Muramasa, about how going into battle without the little troops at their side is like going into battle undressed.
And there is something about Muramasa on his hands and knees, his head deep in a bush, his rabbit tail sticking out behind him, talking about little hoofbeats-- darn, but it's cute.
He has the weirdest urge to tweak the tail...
And then there is a bright light before his eyes and Muramasa's voice is loud in his ears.
There is nothing more disorientating than being woken from a dream by someone who was in that dream, and Tonbokiri gives a start, squinting blearily against the light to try and focus on Muramasa's face.
"Undress--? It's time for battle? Did you find the light cavalry by their hoofbeats?"

“It seems that my poor brother is still too tired after yesterday’s skirmish. Well, not that it matters. I’ve spoiled you a little by allowing you to sleep in, but you’ll miss breakfast if you don’t hurry up!”
no subject
"After that skirmish, I had another task as well. I only just got back, in the hour night was becoming morning again. My thanks, but right now, sleep is more important than food."
His head flops the short distance back onto his pillow and he closes his eyes, but he remains (relatively) alert to whatever Muramasa might do next. He is a capricious sword, after all.
no subject
That would’ve been too easy, anyway.
“It’s not like I’m asking much of you, Tonbokiri. Just one little favor, and you can rest as much as you like afterward…”
no subject
"I'm listening."
He's a a tiny bit curious if the favour actually has to do with the afore-mentioned breakfast, or if it was just an attempt to get him up.
no subject
“You were dreaming of our last mission, right?” he says by way of answer. “Did you happen to spend part of the night with little hoofbeats dancing on your head?”
no subject
"The dream ended before we could find them," he answers without opening his eyes.

Tonbokiri had warned him about his brother’s antics, so at least, Ichigo is prepared for Sengo’s apparent obsession for stripping. Anyway, the issue of the missing troops is much more worrying than Sengo’s behaviour right now, and it is of utmost importance that they find them as soon as possible. And so Ichigo gets down on his hands and knees as well, keeping his eyes and ears peeled for any sign of them.
“I think I hear something over here!”
And he crawls deeper into the bushes.
no subject
“Huhuhu, when it comes to corralling the little ones, you would know best, wouldn’t you?”
That’s not really a jab at him, although Sengo can’t help being amused at it anyway. To see an imperial treasure in such an undignified position, well…he’s just as good as undressed, as far as Sengo is concerned.
no subject
Ichigo laughs a little at that as he continues squeezing and wriggling his way into the dense foliage. "I suppose that's true, though the troops are significantly smaller!"
Then after a little pause. "Are you sure they went this way, Sengo-dono?" Because he's not seeing any trace of them...
no subject
No such luck, though.
“For someone like me who tends to be at the center of attention, certain things tend to get overlooked.”
no subject
Ichigo backed out of the shrubbery he was peering into, to look at him, still on his hands and knees. "What do you mean, Sengo-dono?"
no subject
With a chuckle and a sigh, Sengo likewise gets up and adjusts to a seating position, stretching out his arms and leaning back against the nearest tree.
“It means that they’ll get bored eventually.”
no subject
“... do you really think they’ll come back once they get bored?”
He is slightly skeptical of this plan, but Sengo kind of seems to know what he’s talking about? Maybe?
“Or perhaps we should set some kind of trap to catch them?” What would one use to lure tiny troops though?
no subject
Still, Ichigo’s suggestion does pique his interest. Sengo gives him a pointed look and quite a wicked grin—“Oho, shall I lure them here with my naked body then?”

I think we can start wrapping this up?
Sure!
ii
His eyes began to flutter open as he tried to adjust to the bright light sweeping in when he notices Sengo standing there, grin on his face. Uuuugh no. He's not awake enough for this. Ignoring Sengo's words, Izumi rolled over, pulling the covers directly over his head. OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND.
"I'm not here..."
no subject
With a flourish, Sengo snatches one corner of that blanket and pretty much tears it away from Kanesada. Those muscles aren’t just for show, buddy.
“Don’t be so stubborn, Izuminokami. Horikawa trusted me with this, so I intend to see it through. Now…” Flinging that blanket a ways behind him—“Shall we undress?”
no subject
"Go undress yourself," he huffs out, mostly muffled by the pillow he buried his face into.
His hands started grabbing for the edge of his futon, as if bracing himself for any other method Sengo might want to try.
no subject
If Kanesada thinks trying to wrap himself up into a futon burrito is going to help him, then he’s got another thing coming. After all, Sengo is utterly shameless and has propositioned far more venerable swords than a certain Bakumatsu-era baby.
So he takes the edge of that futon in one hand, because he’ll totally fight Kanesada for it.
“But did you know? It’s much more fun to undress with some company…”
no subject
"You know what's even more fun than that? Sleeping."
Okay, that was an absolute lie, but he didn't want to get up yet and now it felt like a challenge to defeat Sengo!
no subject
“Well, you can’t do that,” Sengo answers reasonably. “There’s a full day ahead of you. Besides…if you don’t get up on your own, Horikawa has given me permission to take drastic measures.”
There’s a lilt to his voice that comes with that emphasis—oh, oh please make him take drastic measures, Izuminokami!!!
no subject
“Drastic measures? Paaah! What sort of sword do you take me for. As if I could be so easily swayed.”
He was going to regret those words....
no subject
Well, he won’t get very far in that, as both of Sengo’s hands are now free to do their mischief. And so he looms over the lately sleeping beauty and proceeds to…tickle the fuck out of him!!!
