( The type that stays detached from things and ends up out of touch, not really caring about those below them. Maybe he's a little biased but he doesn't like this very much. Well, he'll keep it to himself for now but it won't take long for him to learn he can open up here. )
Really? For one of the Swords Under Heaven, ya don't seem like a bad guy to me.
( He makes sure to give a firm handshake. He might shake Mikazuki on accident if he isn't expecting it, oops. )
Right, right, ya guys've been traveling all day.
( And kids get worn out so easily despite all of their energy. His new master seems a little more on the reserved side too so she probably tires out more. Maybe. It kind of makes him wonder how things are going to go. He's aware enough of his own energy to see that they're different. Well, he'll just have to see how it goes and adapt from there. )
Since dinner's soon... how about we make a bit of a game out of it?
But, well, that's Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki for you. They used to have one around before the Citadel got passed on. He's a high energy sword. It's been a while since he's been around though.
So that suggestion is met with a polite, confused blink.]
[Well, why not, if Mutsunokami wants to have fun.]
Well, the two I am thinking of don't look like what they are. One is wakizashi, and one is an oodachi. The only hint i'll give you is that their sizes are reversed.
So a big wakizashi and a small oodachi... an uchigatana? Or maybe a tachi, gaha!
( No, no, of course, he understands that the way swords are classed aren't the most consistent. What some call an uchigatana, others consider tachi. What looks like a tantou is a wakizashi. Who is he to tell others what they can or can't be, though? )
Got it, got it. Let's see... how about a prize than? Seeing how I just got here... I don't have much but my name but how about the loser pours drinks?
( It's small and harmless, something easy and casual they can start off with before moving on to bigger challenges. It'll be a good way for Mikazuki to wrangle a future Mutsunokami into sitting down for tea. Or for Mutsunokami to drag a future Mikazuki to help with some chores. )
Hahahahahaha, why not? We should have a proper welcoming party in a few days, too. Had we not been travelling for the past few days we might have had something more impressive waiting for you. Once we have rested, we'll have a feast.
[More food, Mustunokami! Of course, with Shokudaikiri and Kasen dinner will be good for sure., but they'll give you a proper banquet soon!]
( Yes, this is good. This is fine and he’s more than glad to tackle this new challenge.
When dinner comes, of course, their little master has already retired for the night. That’s too bad and Mutsunokami isn’t shy to say it out loud when he introduces himself. Since she can’t be here, he’ll get things started without her! He introduces himself proudly, without a ounce of shyness, and at the end, he bows just a little humbly. He’s not one to hole himself into a situation because of something like “status” but in terms of merit, which matter the most, he has much to learn. He’ll do his best and he’ll count on everyone here. Just like they can count on him.
He’s good with words, able to speak openly and directly and in a way that is easy to understand and relate to. Of course, he is the sword of a great negotiator so its to be expected. He has much fewer words once he starts stuffing his face, though and it looks like he might never beat Mikazuki’s challenge. In fact, it looks like he’s completely forgotten about it in all of his socializing and playing around (he’s rather popular with the smaller swords).
Once dinner is over and everyone is heading off to the baths or bed, Mutsunokami also follows if only so he can learn where these places are. When he has time to himself, he’s off snooping for Mikazuki, though. )
[On the other side, it might also look like Mikazuki has forgotten the challenge.
He sits with the older squad at dinner, Yamanbagiri, Uguisumaru, Souza, Kousetsu, and leaves the rambunctiousness to their new starter and the small ones. He stays behind with them a little longer as they have a cup of tea, and then as the night progresses, a bit of sake before they, too, break for the night. It's quite some time afterwards that he makes his way to the baths, sighing a little as he starts removing his layers.]
( It takes a while to find Mikazuki. This citadel is so big and he's so naturally curious, he finds himself poking a little deeper into the wrong direction every now and then. But he's focused and when he puts his mind to something, he follows through with it. It's how he eventually finds MIkazuki just as he's getting ready to head off into the bath. )
-- You're a real hard guy to find, ya know that?
( It was almost like... Mikazuki had just disappeared all together. He moves fast for an old man. He'll have to keep an eye on him. )
[Mutsunokami, he was literally sitting in the same place for hours!]
Oya, am I? Hahahahahahaha!
And not at all, please do. I tend to come here after the little ones are done since they can get rambunctious at times.
[Not that they have that many tantou left. Yagen of course, and Sayo, and Fudou, and that's pretty much it. that will change now of course. Now that they have a new starter uchigatana, a new starter tantou is bound to follow.]
( You weren't in the same place when he actually looked for you! )
( Stepping into the changing room, he'll just start taking off his clothes layer by layer. He saves the bandages for last. Not for any special reason, of course! It's just that they're easy to lose in a pile of clothes so he'll take those off last and put them on top of his clothes. It definitely has nothing to do with the scar under them that runs across his side. He doesn't even seem to notice it's there. )
I dunno, it might be more fun with more people around but I guess I get it, if ya wanna relax...
[Mikazuki has... a lot of layers, so by the time Mutsunokami has removed the bandages, he is still shrugging off his last kimono layer and starting to unlace the ties holding the leather shoulderguard on.
He doesn't always wear the inner armor but since they had just come back from travelling, he had it on and then there was no good time to just go and get undressed properly after that.]
[Of course, there's a lot of fumbling, as usual when someone discovers the Sanjou layers for the first time, but it's fine. After a little while, they have everything more or less folded and in order and Mikazuki can follow Mutsunokami into the bath, grabbing a washcloth and some soap on the way.]
I am surprised you are still up. For your first day here, I thought you'd be more tired. Ah, but you've always had a lot of energy, haven't you?
( It's his first bath! Of course he's going to hurry to experience it. It's interesting how they seem to just know. some things and yet, they're still first experiences. At least, bathing hasn't changed too much over the years. Sure, it's become more advanced over the year but you turn the water on, you get the right temperature, and the rest is easy, right? At least, for him. He's always been a intuitive and fast learner. There will be other things that don't come as naturally-- things that he understands in theory but will still have to learn to execute. )
Yeah...?
( The comment gets him to slow down a little. He's never known MIkazuki. Sure, they've shared spaces in the same museums before but that's different from actually crossing paths. So he must mean another Mutsunokami, one that was here before him... even though he's the only one like him! It's funny how that works. )
I guess I'm pretty young I wasn't around long before the Age of the Sword came to an end. 'S pretty weird to be here right now, if ya ask me. It's been the Age of the Gun for so long, you'd think they wouldn't need us anymore.
It would be nice if we were indeed not needed anymore.
[Listen, he is old, let him rest.
He is going to sigh as he sits down to start washing up. But take care of it quickly because really, he just wants a good soak in hot water after all the travelling today.]
Someone will show you where the futon is in your room. Aruji tends to wake up early, but some of us do sleep a bit later.
Right, right. It'd be nice to be in a time where no one needs swords or guns but well, that's the world for ya.
( He'll still hold onto that dream of a peaceful world that doesn't need weapons though. Once you stop dreaming, it will never come true. )
Don't worry about it. It's gotta be easy to figure out, right?
( In a closet or something? There isn't much room to hide things.
His first road bump is soap. When it gets in his eyes, he's quick to get them rinsed with water but that doesn't stop him from reacting as one would expect him to-- animated, loud, but in good nature. Once he's sure he's clean, he's more than eager to get into the water which is... it's hot. Hotter than a person and he oohs and aahs as he settles in. He's only been a person for such a short time and everything is so new and exciting, even the things that are uncomfortable. )
I gotta say, though...I never thought my new master'd be a girl. And a kid, too!
... Dunno how I really feel about that, if I'm being honest.
( His voice is light but it's quiet, just the tiniest bit more serious. )
[Mikazuki watches the antics of the younger sword with a benign smile, giving a few instructions when needed but otherwise letting him figure out most things on his own.
But when he hears Mutsunokami speak again, his smile... changes a little. It's still there, btu there is a sort of edge to it.]
Do not underestimate her, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki. After all, she summoned you.
[And you are, as you have been telling everyone since you came, a big deal.]

[Of course, as a Tenka Goken, there's nothing 'just' about Mikazuki at all.]
We have been waiting for you. Welcome, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki.

( And he holds out a hand to MIkazuki. It's a handshake, )
Modern guys shake hands these days. Looking forward to working with ya, Mikazuki. And everyone else too!

Aruji will be eating alone and going to bed early, but dinner for use should be served in about half an hour.

( Yes. )
Don't tell me their names... maybe give 'em a code name or something! And tell me a little bit about them and I'll see if I can track 'em down.
