Beach. Everyone has been working so hard lately so why not take a break and enjoy the beach? You can make sand castles, play in the water, and there are even umbrellas for those who'd rather just relax in the shade. There's a nice row of water melons ready to be smashed later in the day and when the sun goes down, that's when the sparklers come out.
Suffering. It's the hottest time of the year and the citadel doesn't have central air conditioning. The few air conditions that were installed have given up on life after being used so much and now, we really have to make do with what we can while the Konnosuke try to fix it. There's a limited number of fans, plenty of ice cream to go around, and the citadel should be built to circulate air, right? ... Right?!
Spooks. In Japan, summer is a time for horror. Gather around the camp fire and hear some spooky ghost stories or maybe head out into the woods just outside the citadel for a good ol' fashioned test of courage. It's all good, harmless fun! Of course, with so many spirits gathered in one place, what's to say a stray or curious outsider spirit won't join the mix...
Rain. Summer is also known for sudden and torrential downpours of rain. The clouds always seem to grown and darken suddenly and the next thing you know, it's raining sheets and the ground is shaking from thunder. Once it starts, it never seems to stop. Maybe you were caught out in the rain or maybe this is day 7 stuck inside.
Other! It's summer and there are tons of things to do. Go to the general store and stock up on ice cream, wake up in the middle of the night uncomfortable with heat, or run around screaming because cicadas are dying and flying at your face.
[ He huffs loudly, giving Yagen a gentle squeeze to make sure he was still on his back just fine before turning back toward the forest. He'll show him crying!!! ]

[ He may be stupid at times when his hotheadedness took over, but even he wasn't foolish enough to purposely upset Ichigo. Something about the mere idea sent shivers down his spine... ]

[ He clicks his tongue and turns his head to the side. The one good thing about having as much hair as he did, it meant it was easier to hide his embarrassed face. ]
[ Okay, so maybe Yagen couldn't see the embarrassed look on his face, but with the way he ducks down a little more, it was probably pretty obvious how much his words were embarrassing him. ]
We might not be on a mission now, so I can't speak as your captain... but that doesn't mean I can't speak as your friend and as your friend I don't want you hurt by whatever creature that was.
[ How about no, Yagen. He was still under the impression that he hurt his ankle, so instead of putting him down, he tugs him up a little more, making sure his hold on him was nice and secure. ]

[ Rude. But Yagen isn’t really in the mood to correct Kanesada’s assumptions right now. He keeps thinking about how late it is, and how Ichi-nii wouldn’t have allowed them to linger in the forest so late in the evening. And surely, all his brothers who’d been participating behind the scenes in the test of courage have since wrapped up and gone to bed by now, so why…
Yeah. That had to be Namazuo. And Hakata. And Midare, and all the rest. He’s not sure he really wants to consider the alternative tonight. For now, he conceals his disquiet by tugging lightly at Izuminokami’s hair like it’s a horse’s reins—after all, someone here isn’t willing to quit being a free ride. ]
It’s nothing. Let’s just go inside.

[ The way Yagen seemed to turn more serious, that's what made this forest more unsettling for him. It was like his whole demeanor changed... He was right though, it was getting late and they really should be heading back. Someone could really get hurt if they stayed out here any longer than they were.
His strides became longer and his movement a lot quicker. Izuminokami was determined to get them back home safe and sound. Any sounds nearby just seemed to make his movements speed up until the point that he was actually sprinting all the way back home, using Yagen's keen eyes to travel the darkness. ]
