Beach. Everyone has been working so hard lately so why not take a break and enjoy the beach? You can make sand castles, play in the water, and there are even umbrellas for those who'd rather just relax in the shade. There's a nice row of water melons ready to be smashed later in the day and when the sun goes down, that's when the sparklers come out.
Suffering. It's the hottest time of the year and the citadel doesn't have central air conditioning. The few air conditions that were installed have given up on life after being used so much and now, we really have to make do with what we can while the Konnosuke try to fix it. There's a limited number of fans, plenty of ice cream to go around, and the citadel should be built to circulate air, right? ... Right?!
Spooks. In Japan, summer is a time for horror. Gather around the camp fire and hear some spooky ghost stories or maybe head out into the woods just outside the citadel for a good ol' fashioned test of courage. It's all good, harmless fun! Of course, with so many spirits gathered in one place, what's to say a stray or curious outsider spirit won't join the mix...
Rain. Summer is also known for sudden and torrential downpours of rain. The clouds always seem to grown and darken suddenly and the next thing you know, it's raining sheets and the ground is shaking from thunder. Once it starts, it never seems to stop. Maybe you were caught out in the rain or maybe this is day 7 stuck inside.
Other! It's summer and there are tons of things to do. Go to the general store and stock up on ice cream, wake up in the middle of the night uncomfortable with heat, or run around screaming because cicadas are dying and flying at your face.
[ Hmmm! Well it wasn't Kashuu going to grab some for him, but it also wasn't Kashuu trying to make him grab some for the two of them either so he supposed he couldn't complain too much. Pushing his sunglasses up until they were on top of his head, he gives Kashuu a little grin. ]
[And he just sat down too, god. LIFE IS HARD... But he'll do it! He'll do it for the watermelon.
Pushing himself up, he dusts sand off of the back of his pants and hands and then extends one down to his watermelon-based partner in crime.]
Let's go, let's go. Maybe we can take a look at that ice cream stand up on the boardwalk while we're up, too. Have you seen it? They've got like, a million different flavors.
[ He takes the hand being held out to him and grunts a little as he pulls himself up off the ground. Mimicking Kashuu's actions of dusting off himself. Even with a towel down, it seemed like sand could always get everywhere... ]
You really have an eye for these things, don't you.
[ He seemed a little surprised, but also rather amused. ]
I suppose since we'll already be up it won't hurt to check it out.

Either way, once they've all sufficiently rid themselves of sand, he'll start picking his way to the reedy beach path that leads over to where the Samonjis are camped. Judging by the milling crowd of swords, it sure does seem like they still have watermelon drinks available... He also gestures up the path a bit toward a very stereotypically cute beach shack.]

[ He tries not to let on how excited he was about this, but the way his eyes sparkle completely give him away. He almost wanted to just run off to the little ice cream shack and see just what flavors they had, but... he also really wanted one of these watermelon drinks. ]
[HE SEES IT... that little telltale sparkle...! Not that he can blame Kanesada, honestly. As much as he loved the entire watermelon drink experience, it sure can't beat the Cute Beach Aesthetic of an ice cream shack.]
Right? They definitely know what they're doing. I bet they get tooons of tourists in every day.
[And then, out of the infinite mercy in his heart:] Wanna go there first to check it out?
[ Bless Kashuu for indulging this giant child. Before he tried to reign himself in with a clearing of his throat, he had been smiling with such excitement. ]
I mean, I suppose since we're already this far we might as well check it out. It doesn't look as if the brothers will be leaving any time soon or anything.
[Kanesada is one of like, two whole swords who are actually younger than he is, okay. He needs to take advantage of it sometimes to pretend he's mature enough to indulge others!!]

I wonder if they have the kinda food that goes super viral all over the internet, too. Y'know, like that rainbow cotton candy stuff?

That's something I have been quite curious about recently. I heard some of the tantou's talking and I am honestly wondering what a rainbow might even taste like. What do they base it off of I wonder...

You haven't heard? They're pretty popular! Frozen berries are like, pretty much the beach snack of the summer. I heard people like freezing slices of fruit inside juice when they make popsicles, too. Pieces of orange inside an orange juice popsicle might be nice...
