( He's gotten a preliminary report from Konnosuke as in the midst of reading it. He skims through some of the battle reports to confirm what Higekiri already told him and to clarify some of the parts he was more vague about but right now, he's focused on making sure that the mission was a success. He'd already reviewed he report given to him by the government explaining what had happened before their squad arrived and he's aware of the damages and alterations that happened because of the previous squad's interference.
But it looks like his squad has cleaned up well. The buildings that needed to be repaired were fixed up and even the less important ones were sped along. The right people met who they were supposed to and everything seemed to be going along just fine. Of course, it wasn't perfect-- once history has been changed, it's impossible to truly return it to how it was exactly meant to be but the changes were so unimportant, he'd consider this as close to perfect as it could get. All of the enemies were disposed of and that point in time should be safe for a while, now.
By then, Higekiri has returned from the bath, clean and changed. He doesn't move when Higekiri rests his head on his shoulder. )
You did good. We shouldn't have to make anymore trips there.
[It's nice when Aruji doesn't push him away or try to find excuses not to let him cuddle.
Aruji seems to have this weird idea that one should not get too close to their swords. Higekiri thinks it is, in so many words, bullshit. He has yet to meet a single Saniwa who doesn't love their swords, even if they all have their own ways of showing it. And he knows Aruji loves all of them too.
It's juts that sometimes, Higekiri wishes Aruji would love him a little more. And in little moments like these, where he's allowed to plaster himself to Satsuki's side and not pushed away or scolded or given strange excuses as to why this is not proper, he gets more hopeful. His Aruji does love him, but he's holding onto some sort of weird human rule. Which is ridiculous, because he's very powerful for a human, to start with, and secondly, they're both men here so none of the usual trouble people might hink of is even an issue.
And so Higekiri keeps bringing back little presents, and looking for opportunities to spend more time with Aruji. Like now.]
Hmmm... It wasn't too hard. The Kebiishi didn't even show up.
( When your job is literally cleaning up after everyone else, it makes you a more cautious person. It also just doesn't help that he's not exactly the warmest person. Unlike most saniwa who can casually get along with their swords and easily give praise and affection, he's just a little more prickly.
But for now, he'll let Higekiri rest. He's probably tired, he thinks. Missions are tiresome. )
I still want the Konnosuke to do a check up. ( Easy or not, he just wants to have his records in order. ) ... Since it was an easy enough assignment, it can wait a bit but I want you to see him first thing in the morning, got it?

( The cherry blossoms are a surprise. They always are and he stops what he's doing to catch some of them. As much as he spoils the Genji swords, he doesn't really get them.
He doesn't dwell on it too much, though. There's no point trying to make sense out of some things, at least, not in this current moment. Focusing back on his work, it takes him a while to finish. He's meticulous with his reports, always reporting exactly what needs to be. He has his own personal report he needs to write-- something he can refer to when he has to come back to this period. And no doubt, he'll certainly have to come back. He doesn't really do much else except occasionally asking Konnosuke to confirm a historical record here and there. There's footage to review every now and then too and he makes notes to have certain things checked out in repairs.
But when he's finished... he doesn't wake up HIgekiri. He worked hard on the mission (he saw it in the videos himself) and he's earned his rest. )
[By the time Satsuki is finished, Higekiri has gone from simply dozing to outright sleeping. His weight is actually heady on Satuki's lap and he's also... less restrained, even if he is not very restrained normally.
So it's sort of a natural thing for him as he moves a little to just... put his arm around Satsuki's waist and just hold him close so that he can all but bury his face against his stomach. Breathing in Aruji's scent. It's too bad he didn't come to bathe with him, really, but this is good too.
Are the sakura petals becoming even more numerous? Maybe.]

Higekiri closes his eyes and nuzzles the hand that touches his face, curling up closer and he starts dozing off.
