So you find it fun to live under two meters of snow in the middle of nowhere year round, then? Sorry, but I'll take Kyoto over that anyway.
[The truth is, Satori doesn't particularly like Kyoto. It's not her hometown, she has no specific attachment to the place except her Citadel and the fact that she has now spent half her life there.]
Last time I brought something in a bottle it broke between two gates. I'd rather not have all of my clothing soaked in sake, thank you very much. Even if Jirou thinks it's a super good idea and I should do this every day.
Well, it sure keeps away people like you long enough. ( Really! Also this is home. You come into his home and insult his snow? He's a Hokkaido boy born and raised, even before being assigned here! ) And maybe you should get better at gate traveling. Just saying.
( JUST SAYING... but before she can really react, he's going to peace out to the kitchen to go get those drinks. Only the finest Sapporo beer, especially the exclusive Hokkaido brews. He comes back with a couple and not far behind him is Midare with a tray of warm sake for Mikazuki. Of course, Midare doesn't stick around for long. It's late and he has to gossip with his brothers in their room soon so he'll set it down next to Mikazuki and excuse himself. )
Shut up! I don't even need gates most of the time to get around. I only take them to go to headquarters or come here. I'd take the train to come here if you didn't leave in the middle off freaking nowhere!
[She accepts the beer happily, though, and Mikazuki gives Midare a word of thanks and a small headpat for his own drink.
In the end, though, Satori can't just keep speaking about nothing. She's already spoken some of this to Noa, though, so maybe it's fine to just get started for now.]
Hey, Sacchan, you got a Chougi last year, right? During the first Inspection thingie?
Right? It doesn't make sense, does it? Mr Hotshot Inspector that we get as a reward for killing a gazillion enemies invading that time period and he's fucking level one when he gets there?
Like if you'd gotten him as a drop or made him, he wouldn't have been better? Even though by his own admission he did missions and trained before he arrived? Where did all that progress go, huh?
That didn't seem right to me. So I looked into it.
.... And I found something.
[Because Satori always looks where she shouldn't and she always finds things when she does.]
I guess they wouldn't want to be too nice to guys like us. I figured they reset him or something since they're the ones who make the rules.
( It made sense to him and he wasn't going to press it or rub it in Chougi's face. But Satori sounds like she's going somewhere with this and he really doesn't like that one bit. )
I'm listening.
( And drinking, but mostly listening. He might have to drink more, though )
Yeah, they reset him. That's what I figured. But then, my Chougi started having nightmares.
[She takes a sip of beer and grimaces at how strong it is for a second. It's fine, it's fine.]
They were bad, Sacchan. He tried to hide it from me, that bad. And they weren't nightmares from his time as a sword like Sooz. They were nightmares from his time with the big boss. But he could never really tell what was happening in those, juts that he was bad, so i designed some talismans to go look into it...
I managed to open the seal.
[And it's not pretty, Satsuki.]
... I came here because it was either come here, or go straight to headquarters and freaking kill someone.
[At least if she's here Sacchan will hold her back if she gets murderous. Probably.]
( Well, if it helps, he only thinks the face is because she's recounting what she learned. He's already sitting up a little straighter, giving her his full attention as he listens.
He was reset? Yes, that makes sense but it didn't really explain the inability to explain what things were like before. It does if he doesn't question it too much but he'd alway suspected there was some tampering involved. And maybe it's because Satsuki's citadel is so very organized and structured, he hasn't really noticed Chougi having nightmares, at least, no more than any other sword with a past they keep close. His citadel is run not so differently from how the Time Government runs their citadel on the most basic level and there's less resistance with familiarity. )
You shouldn't have done that.
( It's a warning that comes too late and he knows it. It's why he doesn't really press it anymore. It's been done already and that can't be changed. At least, not legally.
He's frowning now, though. It isn't his usual grumpy scowl-- it's one that is genuinely troubled and concerned. Unlike Satori, though, he's not as impulsive or reactive. He's the type of person able to take in information and turn it over, letting it sit and figuring out what it means and how to approach things. He is, after all, a problem solver. )
How is he now?
( He doesn't doubt Satori's powers-- she's a strong saniwa whether he wants to admit it or not-- but undoing whatever magic the Time Government set had to have been a challenge. He can't imagine the talismans being particularly refined on the first try so he wants to make sure there isn't any damage or side effect to Chougi. )
[She pouts at him when he says 'you shouldn't have done that', because you're not her boss, Satsuki, and also since does she ever not do what she shouldn't do? Not to mention...]
I didn't force him, okay? He was... actually writing a journal, trying to remember things by himself so i told him, if you want to know more, I have something that can do it. And I let him choose whether he wanted to or not. He's the one who decided he wanted to know.
[And she half glares when he asks how he is.]
Physically, he's fine. I didn't damage him. I'm better than that and you know it. I took him off active duty for a little while so he could recuperate. Mentally... he'll get better. what we found is not pretty, but he'd rather know than not.

What about it?
( Yeah, he got Chougi. )

[Maybe her Chougi was a fluke.... but somehow she doesn't believe so.]
It was my first time getting a sword as reward that wasn't a drop... so I was expecting... well, something different.

( Right? It's not like anyone got a special Chougi or anything. )
I dunno... I guess I thought he'd be stronger if he was sent by the guys in charge.
