Hanahaki is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings (romantic love only; strong friendship is not enough), or when the victim dies. It can be cured through surgical removal, but when the infection is removed, the victim's romantic feelings for their love also disappear.

[Mikazuki looks up as he hears Mutsunokami cough again. It's been going on for a few days and at first it wasn't too concerning, but it keeps going...]

( He closes his hands around the petals and smoothly, he lets out a breathy laugh. )

Don't worry! ( It's tricky when he's dealing with Mikazuki. The Sanjou sword is a lot wiser than he lets on. In some ways, that's something the two of them have in common.
